Changwon Mayor Huh Sung-moo visited Daegeon Tech Co., Ltd. and Samhyun Co., Ltd., which are excellent companies that are building smart manufacturing innovation in Changwon National Industrial Complex on the 3rd.
The visit was designed to visit smart factory sites, which the city is promoting as one of the five new strategic industries such as ICT intelligence machinery, robots, defense aviation, hydrogen, and smart industrial complexes, to prepare specific support policies for on-site application of manufacturing innovation and establishment of smart industrial complexes.
First of all, Mayor Huh visited Daegun Deck (CEO Shin Ki-soo), which built a smart manufacturing process using 3D printers, and toured the site of smart factory facilities.
In addition, representatives of research institutes and companies such as Kyungnam University, Electricity Research Institute, and Material Research Institute attended a meeting to discuss in-depth the direction of smartening the industrial complex to revitalize the local economy.
Daegeon Tech Co., Ltd. was selected as an "excellent company to build a smart factory" at the 2017 Industrial Innovation Reporting Conference hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It employs 180 people with annual sales of 33 billion won, making it one of the best job creation companies in Gyeongnam.
Mayor Huh suggested the following to the officials of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy who accompanied him during his visit to Daegeon Tech. The need for central government support for regional economic issues such as the establishment of a small and medium-sized special ship support center and the development of manufacturing and innovation in Changwon National Industrial Complex.
Mayor Huh also visited Daegeon Tech Co., Ltd., which built a smart manufacturing process using 3D printers, to look around the operation of smart factory facilities.
Mayor Heo then visited Samhyun Co., Ltd. (CEO Hwang Sung-ho) to listen to corporate difficulties by visiting business process tours and affiliated research institutes.
Samhyun Co., Ltd. is a company that specializes in producing precision controllers for automobiles, defense, and robots. It is a Changwon-type small and medium-sized company in 2016 and a company that received the Best Research Team of the Year award in 2017.
Samhyun Co., Ltd. has installed a DCT (double clutch transmission) motor for a powertrain (power transmission device), which began its own development in 2014, to Hyundai-Kia Motors.
In addition, as it was supplied exclusively, it was recognized for its excellent technology in related industries, with annual sales of 45.2 billion won and the number of workers reaching 130.
Mayor Huh said, "The foundation of Changwon's economy is manufacturing, and many jobs should be created in the manufacturing industry," adding, "We are focusing our administrative power on creating smart factories and smart industrial complexes that incorporate ICT convergence technology to revive gradually falling competitiveness."
